Overview
IMPINI lets you perform INI file backup and restore operations via the commandline,
copying, deleting or restoring either the entire contents of an INI file or only one or
certain applications or key of a certain application.
Both the active user and active system INI file are accessed by using the reserved keywords
USER and SYSTEM. So you can make a complete backup from the active user and
system INI. Unlike the files ?:\OS2\OS2.INI and ?:\OS2\OS2SYS.INI, which are rewritten only
after a certain amount of changes, this backup will include *ALL* changes up to the moment,
that you use IMPINI !
More, IMPINI enables to compare two INI files, so that you for example can determine,
what changes an installation program of an application has applied to user and system INI file.
Take a backup of both user and system INI before and after an installation and let IMPINI
compare the files afterward. This will write the added and changed entries to a third file and,
if desired, display all the added and changed applications and keys.
Last, but not least, IMPINI supports the use of environment variables, when copying
INI file entries to a target INI. When parameter /Env is specified, IMPINI replaces all
environment variables in application names, key names and non-binary key data with the
value of the environment variable.
This way you can easily distribute entries of one source INI file to several systems,
which are different for example in terms of drive letters or pathnames for certain
applications or system components.
