Overview
HyperText/2 creates IPF source files out ot the HyperText/2 text files and
then uses the IPF compiler to create the resulting INF file.
Using HyperText/2 allows you to write text files with very few commands
compared to the syntax of real IPF source. As an example tables and lists
can be created with far less complicated structures and usual text attributes
like boldprint and underline can be switched on and off with escape characters
instead of using involved commands. Thus it is far easier than creating real
IPF source files.
HyperText/2 is not the only preprocessor solution for creating IPF source and INF files. HyperMake from Martin
Vieregg can even do more for you, it can use the same source for creating both OS/2 and Windows Help files and
even HTML files, and all this with even more text layout features. Although this is quite a fine program, it has one
drawback: it costs a shareware fee. While the shareware fee might be appropriate when you consider all the features
that HyperMake offers you, I consider it being far too high if you just want to create some larger INF files. This is
why I created HyperText/2, which is completely free.
As a credit to HyperMake I have to thank the author for the idea and for the layout of some HyperMake specific
commands. Although HyperText/2 shares some commands with HyperMake, it is NOT compatible and has some less
features. Nevertheless HyperText/2 should be sufficient for most tasks and has other, very powerful commands, like
for mirroring pages and easy creation of so-called viewports (comparable to frames in HTML).
